Daniel Bullen from Auchterarder GC is the inagural Pollk Junior Masters champion after edging out GB&I girls international Carmen Griffiths in a thrilling finish to take the title.
A second round five-under par 66 saw Bullen storm into contention at the end of an opening day which saw Griffiths smash the ladies course record at the Glasgow course with a stunning 6-under par 67. The two were neck and neck for much of the third and final round, before a late burst of birdies at 13, 15 and 16 gave Bullen a cushion.
Needing an eagle at the 18th to force a play-off, Griffiths played a glorious approach shot to 20 feet, but she couldn't make the putt drop and had to settle for a birdie to finish one behind on 6-under par, with the consolation of winning the girls event and second overall.
Bullen's final round of 69 was impressive after dropping shots at the 4th and 6th holes, recovering with a birdie at the par-4 eighth hole to steady the ship.
It was an excellent week for the Perth & Kinross county contingent with Muckhart's Alex Turlik clinching third place overall thanks to a closing 69, rounding it off in style with a birdie on the 18th hole. The Blairgowrie pairing of Connor Graham and Cormac Sharpe finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Loreto School's Dili Sitanonth claimed second place in the girls event on five-over par and inside the top-10 overall with rounds of 74-77-73.
Brendan McKenna, Managing Director of ProDreamUSA, was delighted with the success of the tournament: "It was great to work with Pollok Golf Club on their inagural Junior Masters and attract such a strong field, with some very talented boys and girls competing against each other. The course was in terrfic condition and presented a great challenge to the players, and its testament to the standard of golf on show that we saw a ladies course record from Carmen and a superb 66 from Daniel on the way to his impressive victory."
"We'd like to thank our main sponsors, the JR Group for their fantastic support and the team at Pollok Golf Club for providing a great course and an equally warm welcome for all the players."
